Fight for the underdog, my journey in the flood I found in my basement and my battle with the City of Pittsburg, KS. Seeking a lawyer that is willing to stand up for the underdog and sue the city of Pittsburg because of how they handled the whole situation. First off, they did not turn the water off even after they did a leak check. They will not tell me the meter reading for the first part of March, or what day they read the meter. They never notified me of the leak.
Received a letter that makes me think Shade runs high.
So, I got this in the mail yesterday. 6/11/2021.
Dear Mrs. Rieck Groves
We are writing to follow up regarding the claim you have presented alleging the City of Pittsburgs should have notified of you a leak in your house so something could have been done with the water. There is damage to your home and personal items that were in the home.
We have completed our investigation into this claim and we must respectfully disagree with your assertion. The insured observed a lot of water being used in your home with no one living there. They went out and checked the lines and found a leak. The person that came out knocked on the door and no one answered. There was not water running out anywhere that he could see, and the houses are close enough if there was a problem the neighbors would have found it. The account didn't have a phone number on it to call the homeowner or a forwarding address as well.
We regret that you sustained damage to your property. However, based on our investigation, we are unable to accept liability on behalf of City of Pittsburg for these damages and we must decline to offer to make any payment toward the repairs.
Please feel free to contact the undersigned should you have any questions or concerns, or if you wish to further discuss this matter. Sincerly Stacey Miller.
First off, She got my name wrong. 2nd, not very well written for it being an official letter, 3rd. stated they knocked on door when they did a leak check no one answered. ( just above that they stated no one lived there ) Who was going to opened the door?
4th. Back in April I was told they left a notice at the door. ( I searched the property, no notice was left. 5th. they Blamed it on the neighbors? 6th. Stated there was no phone number, email address, or correct address on file. 7th. Yes, they had all three. Address was updated when I moved. They always had my phone number and email address on file. ( I paid my bills online , email address is involved,) ( Bills came to my updated address ) 8th. Proof of a message I sent back in 2020 regarding my new address. Also notice my email address.? ... Curious why this letter was just finally sent to me on June 8, 2021. Lastly I didn't know Pittsburg had an S at the end. ..
